THIS INCUBATOR IS FOR YOU!
Mojuba Black Dance Festival is hosting a Black Choreographers Incubator that will cultivate the next generation of dance voices and advocate for the sharing of bold, new works. This 8-week incubator will help emerging black choreographers take their work to the next level!​
This Incubator is for you if you are an emerging black choreographer in the Cleveland -metro area who uses dance to:

Increase awareness, create empathy, or restore pride

Challenge or transform beliefs about our society, our culture, or ourselves

Tell the stories of social justice, race, the black body, identity, spirituality and culture
-
Expand and explore the black narrative
In the incubator, you’ll learn to:

Call into question mainstream culture and beliefs
-
Understand the technical components (video, lighting, sound, etc.) of presenting works for professional stages and social media
-
Gain a greater appreciation for Black dance, culture, history
-
Brand, market, and enter the dance business·

Use dance to build community and increase wellness
-
Implement tools and strategies for dancemaking
BEFORE YOU START, HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

A valid email address and phone number

A cell phone or web cam to record and upload a 60 second “about you” video

A link to a video sample of your choreographic work

A brief artist biography

A current headshot

A letter of support from a dance educator, mentor, teacher, or colleague
Accepted participants will receive:

A professional video of their work,

Opportunities to learn from esteemed mentors and scholars,

Technical support for live performance and production: lighting, sound,

Up to 12 hours of free studio space,

Dancers to complete final choreographic work,

Marketing and exposure on Mojuba web and social media platforms,

Membership in the incubator alumni network and continued learning opportunities,

Free entry to Mojuba Black Dance Festival,
-
The opportunity to teach and/or present a choreographic work in the Mojuba Black Dance Festival,

Tickets to local dance events, and
-
A Certificate of Completion.
