Mojuba! Dance Collective and Karamu House
A home for Black dance, cultural expression, and community connection.
Since 2022, Mojuba! Dance Collective has worked alongside Karamu House in their signature productions such as "Black Nativity," participated in their community events, and visioned opportunities for cultural education and performance.
We are excited to begin an elevated chapter as the resident company at Karamu House. Mojuba! is proud to partner with Karamu House to cultivate a vibrant space for Black dance, cultural learning, artistic excellence, and community connection.
Rooted in the richness of our shared vision ad core values, this partnership brings together two organizations committed to preserving Black cultural expression while creating new possibilities for future generations.
Together, we are creating opportunities for children, teens, adults, and families to experience dance not only as an art form, but also as a practice of cultural connection, personal expression, collective care, and community building.
A LEGACY IN MOTION
Karamu House has long served as a vital home for Black arts and culture in Cleveland and beyond.
Through this partnership, Mojuba! builds upon that legacy by bringing African diasporic dance traditions, culturally responsive dance education, original choreography, and intergenerational artistic experiences into the Karamu community.
This partnership represents more than a place to take class or perform. It is an opportunity to reconnect generations through movement, honor the artists and traditions that came before us, and nurture the next generation of Black dancers, cultural leaders, and storytellers.
We believe our traditions are living knowledge. They carry our histories, hold our stories, and create pathways for us to imagine what comes next.
