Description:  From crossing the oceans during the middle to the fire hoses of the Civil Rights movement, this work considers the complicated and complex relationship that the Black community had and has with water.

Where the Light Enters

Premiere: May 2023

Description: God is light; in Him there is no darkness. (1 John 1:5). Where the Light Enters deeply honors the strength and resilience of Black women across generations. As we strive to create spaces of healing and elevate conversations that move us from the margins to the center, this work extends an invitation to each of you to join us at the table.

In the words of the renowned poet Rumi, "The wound is the place where the light enters you."

Description: With musical direction by Assane M'baye, this piece with dancing and drumming is symbol of the strength and resilient energy of Black women.

Second De Line

Premiere: August 2023

Description: A celebration of the aesthetic and energy of the second line of New Orleans. Rooted in African-American culture, these celebrations often accompany weddings, funerals, and community events, emphasizing joy and resilience.
