Emerging Black Choreographers Incubator

“In times of dread, artists must never choose to remain silent.” — Toni Morrison

We are seeking emerging, black choreographers who have a desire to say something about our culture, our society and our experience by expanding or exploring the black narrative through the medium of dance.

We will select up to 10 emerging choreographers to participate in the Mojuba! Dance Collective Emerging Black Choreographers Incubator. Together, this cohort will complete an incubation experience that will serve to cultivate the next generation of dance voices and advocate for the sharing of bold, new works.

The Emerging Black Choreographers Incubator will consist of three phases that will address the identified needs of emerging choreographers through a systematic approach focused on Preparation, Process, and Performance.  Cohort participants will receive training through a mix of media, dance labs, seminars, live performances, discussions, and hands-on workshop experiences.  The cohort experience will culminate in a choreographer’s showcase February 21st-February 23rd, 2020, during the Mojuba! Black Dance Fest.
